About AMI President's Message
A Message from the AMI President Welcome to the website of the Association of Medical Illustrators I am proud to represent the diversified biomedical visualization experts that make up the AMI membership. Our profession continues to evolve from our historic roots in medical illustration to animation, molecular visualization, patient simulation, interactive media, virtual reality and other cutting-edge applications of visual communications in the health sciences. Our diversified skill-set in science and art positions us for an ever-expanding role in biomedical communication. With the continued growth in scientific knowledge, the explosion of media technologies and the importance of visual literacy worldwide, opportunities for biomedical visualization specialists will likewise grow. The AMI is strategically positioned to meet the needs of its members in this rapidly changing marketplace. The highlight of the AMI is its annual meeting, which will take place next in Toronto, July 25-28, 2012. There is no other place where the interdisciplinary knowledge needed for our profession is integrated and cutting-edge techniques are shared. If you have never attended an AMI annual meeting, you should attend this one! I guarantee a high return on your investment.
