Long Range Planning Committee lauds AMI Successes for 2008 - 2009

The Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) serves as an instrument for assessing and modifying the short and long-term goals of the AMI. Through the efforts of the LRPC, AMI leaders and elected officers become active participants in shaping the way our association evolves and meets the ever-changing challenges that we all face collectively as medical illustrators. The LRPC consists of the Immediate Past President who also serves as the Chair of the Committee - Mike Belknap, the President - Mark Lefkowitz, and the President Elect - Betsy Palay. The LRPC also receives input as needed from the Chair of the BOG, Vice Chair of the BOG, a Finance Committee representative, and the Executive Director.

William "Bill" Just, J.D. (1940 - 2008) Former AMI Executive Director

billjustphoto.jpgWilliam “Bill” Just died in Atlanta on Friday, December 19, 2008 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.

Bill was president and CEO of Total Association Management Services Inc. (TAMS), a multi-client association management company which he founded in 1985. Under Bill’s leadership and direction, TAMS served as the Association Management Company for the AMI from 1990 to 2002, the year Bill retired.

AMI Members Recognized in the 2008 International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge
Three members of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI), Linda Nye, Donald Bliss, and Travis Vermilye, received awards in the 2008 National Science Foundation (NSF) and Science’s International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge. Since 2002, the NSF and Science have awarded artists in celebration of the impact of visual imagery on science and public understanding of scientific research. Linda Nye received First Place in the Illustration Category for Zoom into the Human Bloodstream, her collaboration with the Exploratorium Visualization Laboratory.
