2014survey logo 600Pulse of the Profession Survey 2014. The AMI survey revealed that while salaries have remained flat through the slow economic recovery, jobs in interactive / app development and animation are in demand and outpacing inflation. As the U.S. sees a rise in the freelance and online labor market, keeping an eye on industry trends is paramount. Members receive exclusive access to the detailed results of this survey.

Advocacy Graphic webAdvocacy. With copyright reform on the national agenda, AMI retained legislative counsel services. In March, Bruce Lehman attended the Orphan Works public roundtable on behalf of AMI providing us a direct voice to policy makers. Our Artists' Rights Committee and partners at ASIP are monitoring the House Judiciary copyright hearings. We anticipate a Copyright Revision bill will be introduced in the next Congress. Members can read analyses of potential changes that could affect your rights and revenues in the OMC. Follow our Legal news.

Brand Graphic2A Brand for the Future. In April, AMI announced a new visual identity system, logo and tagline. The new brand is the first significant change in AMI's look in 37 years. Inspired by a proud past, the new modern logo conveys AMI's roots in life science, its evolving expertise, and its integrated global community. The new tagline—Illuminating the Science of Life—is inclusive of all forms of visualization and broadens AMI's scope beyond medicine to molecular and biological sciences.

ami-tab-benefits-1stRedesigned AMI.org & Social Media. Launched in May, the AMI.org website was redesigned with new branding and improved display on tablet devices. We refocused our social media efforts to better articulate and promote our profession as interdisciplinary visual communicators in biomedical science and healthcare. Our Facebook boasts an 85% increase in Likes (up from 915 to over 1,700) and Twitter increased 110% in followers (up from 333 to over 700).

MayoMeeting MorrealeNew Meeting Format. The AMI2014 Annual Conference at Mayo Clinic was an overwhelming success with a new TED-style meeting format. Attendees embraced the 20-minute talks and the vigorously paced schedule that nearly doubled the content [and value] of our three-day meeting. Hosted by Bob Morreale, the theme "At the heart of our profession are compelling stories" showcased stories of innovators, pioneers, scientists and artists.

AMI2014 Talks VimeoVideos of AMI2014 Talks. Thanks to the generous support of Mayo Clinic, recordings were made of the annual meeting talks. In total there are 35 incredible talks—expanding the three-day intensive meeting to year-round access for all AMI members. Most popular talks are Christopher Moir "Anatomy of a Separation," Viktor Deak "Communicating Evolution," and MK Czerwiec "Why Use Comics for Patient & Practitioner Reflections?" Members can access AMI's Vimeo channel in the OMC.
